Oh Cool!

Earth's Crust Missing In Mid-Atlantic
Scientists have discovered a large area thousands of square kilometres in extent in the middle of the Atlantic where the Earth’s crust appears to be missing. Instead, the mantle - the deep interior of the Earth, normally covered by crust many kilometres thick - is exposed on the seafloor, 3000m below the surface.
Geology was always a side interest for me including taking an elective Geology course in second year university. Stuff like this is fascinating to me, and for scientists to have a chance to explore and investigate a part of the earth usually inaccessible is great news (not that the bottom of the ocean floor is very accessible itself, its just easier than beneath a few kilometers of bedrock).
