Not just any bomb, THE Bomb. I'm sad to say I'm not surprised. That poor, isolated, paranoid regime worked hard at a Nuclear program for the same reason that a loner with a paranoid delusion that the world is out to get him buys a gun: it provides a feeling of power, of strength. "Who's got the gun? I've got the gun."
Now the question is this: backed into a corner with even its erstwhile ally China condeming it for its nuclear test and program, with the world truely out to stop them, what does the leadership of North Korea decide to do?
I wish I could say that a Nuclear strike against American troops stationed on the South Korean border is unthinkable, but its not. After all, if the government of the USA can say that first strike in starting a war with Iraq to protect itself is okey-dokey, what's to prevent the warped minds in Pyongyang from turning that around to apply to themselves?
Hence the dangers of living by the sword.
UPDATE: Case in point.
