"He explained that Atheism was not a dirty word"

Over at Pharyngula I read about this trial in Southern US of a man accused of assault and battery. Its a scary view into the world of prejudice that I hope never to experience.

Let me be clear that I have never met anyone claiming to be Christian that acted like the so called "Christians" in this tale. The actions of the "mob" are indictitive to me of the extreme xenophobia gripping the American heartland, where anyone not of the norm is the enemy.

Thanks Bill, for calling them "so called 'Christians'". Their actions are certainly proving that they aren't.

It's a scarey story. Everyone should be entitled to their own beliefs.
