When I was a young teenager I discovered the music of Bon Jovi, and I got hooked. I loved the "Slippery When Wet" album and probably listened to it hundreds of times.
Bill ruined one of the songs on that album the day we got married...
At our wedding reception, we had the 'no clinking of glasses' rule...if people wanted us to kiss they had to sing a song with the word LOVE in it...we figured that this way we could actually eat some of our dinner. Our friends and family weren't shy about singing, but it's not their songs that I remember.
Jamie, the best man, and Bill stood up to sing a song...I still don't know what posessed them to do this. I suppose Jamie thought it would be funny...and Bill just didn't think ;) In unison, they began to sing Bon Jovi's song, "You Give Love A Bad Name"...now, what kind of song is that to sing to your new bride??? Yes, it had the word LOVE in it, but still! The boys may have thought it was funny, but I definitely did not! Needless to say, when Bill came in for a kiss, I refused...which of course made for some laughter from our guests...even his Grandmother was encouraging me to NOT kiss him. Sometimes he thinks he's funny...
Now, every time I hear that song on the radio, I remember my new husband singing it to me on our wedding day...then I need to shake my head. I love you babe, but I'm never going to let you live that one down... :p
